The Film Premiere
Thursday, 18 December 2008 14:27

The film will finally have it’s broadcast premiere on TVO January 11th at 9pm. To actually realise I’ve made it to this point is still unbelievable to me sometimes. The fact that this project began as some home movies I was going to make for my family and has now turned into a feature film and website makes me happy for all the people who have helped me along the way. Whether they gave me money, lent their skills or even just asked me how the project was going, I thank all of them. We have now been promoting the film since October and there is still a lot to do. Later in January and into February the film will premiere on the Knowledge Network and The Saskatchewan Communications Network as well as at Cinema Du Parc in Montreal. There will be stories on the film in the Toronto Star and Montreal Gazette and I have now entered it into more than 10 film festivals.

Dear Chris,

I wanted to write to you and let you know that I watched your film on TVO last night and I wanted to commend you for your work. Your film was very informative and showed everyone how devastating this disease can be. It was done in such a loving, compassionate manner with respect for your Dad. He seemed like such a nice man and it was so sad for me to watch even though I have absolutely no affililiation with you or your family - it brought tears to my eyes.

Thank you for sharing your story with the world - it makes everyone that much more aware of this terrible disease.

Dear Chris,

I was an aquaintance of your father in the 1990's, in his Toronto curling club, the Rolling Stones. He was held in the highest regard, one of the great characters I have been bless to meet in my life. We were there to see the onset of the disease, how it affected him, and ultimately robbed him of coming out with his friends and playing a game he loved. We to were also robbed, by the absence of one of the world's great gentlemen and a great friend.

As it often happens, once John stopped coming out, and eventually moved out of the Toronto area, we lost touch of and often wondered what became of our friend. I just wanted to say thank you for this film. It was an important message about a devastating disease and a compassionate portrait of the spirit and love of life your father had. And I know it will help bring closure for many of his friends who were not sure what happened at the end of your Dad's life. That is important to those who knew him, and want to celebrate the life of Mr. John Wynn.

Hi Chris!
I just watched your film on TVO. I just wanted to thank you for making it, and think it was very inspiring.

On Septmember 15th 2009 I will be joining a group of Canadians in the Ascent for Alzheimer's. It is a fundraising event hosted by the Alzheimer's Society of BC. With help from the Alzheimer's Society of Ontario, I will be raising a minimum of $10,000 for the Alzheimer's Society of Guelph-Wellington (my local chapter). Along with the others, I will be climbing to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania Africa. The climb is meant to represent the uphill struggle that individuals who are affected by the disease face. By participating, I hope to raise awareness, and raise funds to support the works of the Alzheimer's Society.

Alzheimer's Disease affects so many people in so many ways, and I'm so glad that you were able to screen your film tonight!

For more info, go to http://www.alzheimerbc.org/ascent.php
(my donation site will be up soon!!)

Thanks again,
Christina Pilgrim

I just looked at a clip from you father's story. After mother living w/us 6 years, and being in nursing home 2 years, and passed away 2 years ago, it's still hard to watch it happening to others. I would like to know how to see the film here in Texas? Is it available to purchase or see online? I've become an advocate for Alzheimer's and nursing home residents. I'm on the Board of TANHR or Texas Advocates for Nursing Home Reform. I still volunteer at facilities and be w/the residents. Please let me know how to view this and/or make it available for public awareness and to get people to care/take action. Thanks.
