Seems that one of my doctors has asked my wife to restrict my driving. She did not want to tell me that for fear of upsetting me. Now that I'm aware of the request I will do my best to honor it.

Family Support Counsellor

Hi Tom

I have just reviewed some of your posts on here and I would like to commend you for your openess, strength, and determination. I think it is great that you continue to stay involved in the decisions throughout this challenging journey. Your acceptance and openness will definately make things a lot easier for you and your family along the way. I am sorry to hear that you are no longer working and are now facing the loss of your license. Along with this disease comes many losses, and losing the driver's licence is one of the most challenging losses to adjust to. It can feel like a loss of independence. At this time, it is important for you to embrace the strengths that you still have. Based on your recent blogs, you seem to be very alert and I am sure there are many other things that you are still able to do. Please remind yourself of those strengths and continue to challenge yourself, stimulate your brain and excerise each day.
Thank you for sharing your story. I am sure that it will give others some insight into how a person diagnosed feels, copes and struggles throughout the journey. Your story may give others strength along the way. So again, thank you!

It's great to see that you are already connected with another Alzheimer Society, it is definately recommended for anyone going through this. If you ever need more support or information, you are welcome to connect with me as well.

Rachelle
