At age 54, after being retired 6 months we learned that my husband had early onset/early stage Alzheimer's. He was 56 years old. His employer placed him on long term disability till age 65. That was 7 yeasrs ago. He began to deteriorate about a year and a half ago and although he seems happy with his days, the challenge begins for me.
