My name is Bill Bishop, I am a 77 year's old, and live in New Westminster, B.C. I was born in Winnipeg, Man., and moved to B.C. in 1948. Following high school in Winnipeg I worked for Swift Canadian for 10 years. I married in 1949 and we moved to B.C. in 1950. I was with Xerox for a few years, and then the company I retired with in 1976, a pharmaceutcal company, Pfizer Canada. I married again in 1991 to Idie, and have 3 sons, by my first marriage now 43, 46, 48, all living in B.C. Idie has 4 children all married except one, and all living in B.C.
My memory problems started about 2 years ago. I volunteered with the New West Police Dept. to help in programs to locate and remove graffiti from city sites. I began to realize at this time that I was having difficulty doing my job satisfactorly, and then shortly after that I quit. Over the past two years I have continued to go down hill with all the eventual signs that anyone with alzheimers starts to experience. I belong to a strong alzheimers support group, and have followed most of the suggestions that are available. My wife has been a rock for me and I would be lost with out her. I still enjoy life in spite of set backs, and will try to do everything I can to continue enjoying my life.
