Over the past year I have done lots of traveling to screen my film and talk about my experiences. Along the way I have met some amazing people from caregivers and families to social workers and councillors. I have also met some organizations who are helping caregivers in different ways, and I am happy to say that I am now working with a couple of these organizations.

Comcare

Back in June I had the pleasure of doing a presentation for the Alzheimer's society in Barrie, and after the presentation I met Peter Kalra and John Hands from Comcare. Their organization has been providing home care solutions to communities across Canada since 1969. Their gola is to help their clients remain independent and safe in their own homes. I am now in the process of writing a two part series about caregivers and about seeking help in the early stages. Please see my first entry "Why Caregivers Stay Quiet".

Laurentians C.A.R.E

I wrote a short blog back a few months ago about a new organization in the Laurentians, and I am happy to say that last Sunday on August 29, Laurentians C.A.R.E. held it's first ever board meeting and I am happy to sit on the board of directors and try to help this group as much as I can!

Laurrentians Caregiver Association - Resource & Education ( Laurentians C.A.R.E) is a non-profit organization which was created to provide assistance and support to Caregivers, Home Care Assistants and to the General Population of the Laurentians.

Laurentians C.A.R.E. in conjunction with other health organizations and local institutions, intends to develop a strong network of caregivers and healthcare services for Anglophone and allophone communities.
